I’m Terry Palmer. I’ve been teaching guitar and music theory for about 20 years, helping students from beginner to advanced. It’s a great experience helping others discover the things I’ve learned over my career and watching them develop their own style. Teaching also helps me stay rooted in the fundamentals and improves my playing.
Whether you’re interested in electric guitar, acoustic, or music theory, my teaching style is interactive and fluid. It’s important to me that I understand what goals and desires my students have for their playing. After all, teaching the basics is important, but it’s usually just one step in the journey; part of a larger vision. For me, that vision was the dream to playing like some of my guitar heroes and I believe in helping form that vision with my students to create the roadmap to get them there.
I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach. Having structure and learning the basics is very important, but I also try to tailor my instruction to meet the student where they are in their journey. I spend time working on ear training, technique, looking at guitar setup, even spending time working with amps and pedals to help create the experience each student wants to achieve from the work of their hands and the sound of their gear.
The lesson studio is equipped with everything needed for creative collaboration and learning including a full selection of instruments, amps, pedals and recording gear to make the learning experience fun and engaging.
